The West Haven Seahawks enjoyed another successful day at home, marking the halfway point of the regular season.
The Junior Peewee team improved their record to 3-1 with a dominating 42-14 win over the Warwick Patriots (RI). Quarterback Nick Conlan rushed for two touchdowns and added an extra point conversion to lead the offense. Avian Evans, Nysir Harris, Aedan Coe and Joe Capella each scored touchdowns for the Hawks.
The Peewee team (4-0) beat the Warwick Patriots (RI), 28-0, to remain unbeaten. Quarterback Jayden Roby connected with Jahzire Massey for a touchdown pass and Connor Holy, Carson Hill and Tyrell Mosley added rushing scores in the Seahawk victory. A physical and stingy defense was led by Deven Robinson, Gavin Kanlong and Trysten Dos.
The final game of the day under the lights had a feel of a high school game and pitted two unbeaten teams against each other.
The West Haven Junior varsity team (4-0) beat the Stratford Redskins (3-1) by the score of 26-12 in a hard-fought contest. Running back Tymaine Smith scored a rushing touchdown in the first quarter to give West Haven a 6-0 lead.
The score was tied at the half 6-6. Seahawk Pearson Hill returned the second half kickoff 79 yards to give West Haven a 12-6 advantage and all the momentum they would need. Khani Wright returned an interception for a score and Hill added another score late in the game for the win.
Donovan Davis and Cameron (Jo-Jo) Winder led the defense with 10 tackles a piece. Bryson Robinson, Christian Lewis, Brandon Stanford and Xavier Kearny also played great defense.
