Connecticut Republican gubernatorial nominee Bob Stefanowski visited West Haven
on his bus tour of the state recently.
During his visit, he stopped at Jerri’s Luncheonette downtown West Haven on Campbell Avenue and Center Street. There he and his running mate Rep. Laura Devlin met with diners regarding their most pressing concerns about the state.
Following Jerri’s, the two made their way over to the Main Street steps of West Haven City Hall for a rally and press conference, where they were greeted by organizer Planning and Zoning Commissioner Steven R. Mullins, Republican Town Committee Chairman David Riccio and 14th Senatorial District GOP nominee Kim-Marie Mullins.
Before a crowd of about 50 reporters, supporters, citizens and city employees, Stefanowski was introduced by Steven Mullins.
“I am so happy and so proud that we are beginning a new day in the state of Connecticut with new leadership in Hartford that will make West Haven and the other 168 municipalities in the state of Connecticut stronger and that is the leadership of Bob Stefanowski,“ Mullins said.
Stefanowski said that he and Devlin are hearing concerns from Connecticut residents during the campaign stops they make. The issues are the same.
“It’s really important to hear what people have on their minds,” he said. “In the Capitol, they assume everything is great. But people are struggling with affordability and safety.” Stefanowski said. “Connecticut is hurting right now, and Laura and I are committed to getting it back on track.”
In her remarks, Devlin mentioned speaking to a table of retirees at Jerri’s about the financial abuse going on in the city, and how the taxpayers are going to have to pay for the mismanagement and corruption.
“No one should have to look over their shoulders and wonder what their government is going to do to them financially,” Devlin said.
Kim-Marie Mullin, who lives in West Haven also addressed the crowd. “I’m not speaking to you as a candidate, but as a resident. I live here and know what has been going on for the past two years. This city is on fire and has been on fire. What we need is transparency and accountability. We’re tired of the
promises. This election is our chance to make these changes,” she said.
