Following a tradition that goes about almost 50 years, we celebrate our Thanksgiving Day edition by celebrating the hometown heroes of the gridiron.
West Haven and Notre Dame will play this morning in the season finale for both teams. West Haven has played on the holiday since the late 1920s, when it began to take on Hillhouse at Donovan Field, and then Yale Bowl.
Notre Dame plays in the annual Green Bowl, which began in 1951. A great Connecticut tradition is beginning the holiday with a little pigskin action. Get out and see your favorite team.
