New look
Iconic Savin Rock has a storied past in the development of the community of West Farms into the city of West Haven. Recently, the city undertook a clean-up of the landmark, taking away much of the overgrowth and trees that cluttered the area. Getting its name from the Savin tree, the spot is where Jonathan Painter saw British Ships entering the harbor in what was part of an invasion of New Haven. The event is captured on the city crest, and is part of the lore of Colonial West Haven.
