From the archives of city resident Michael Mercuriani is a stylized lithograph of the former Armstrong Rubber Company, which had its international headquarters on Elm Street. Over the years the look of the factory changed as Armstrong Tires became one of the top-selling brands in the business. The factory closed in 1981, and some of the space has been leased to smaller concerns. Current proposals make it an anchor for business and residential development along the city’s railroad station.
