The site of the alleged illegal dumping incident behind the former Nick’s Luncheonette at 423 First Ave. on Aug. 1. Police later arrested and charged an employee of a West Haven landscaping company with two counts of illegal dumping. The infraction carries a fine of $219 per violation, according to state statute. The employee was also ordered to properly dispose of the trash and clean up the site.

Rose opus on the Green
The West Haven Council on the Arts and Theatre West are presenting a modern rendition of the classic play and movie, 12 Angry Men by Reginald Rose. The play has been updated as 12 Angry HuMens to reflect current life. 12 Angry HuMens will be presented free on the West Haven Green this Friday and Saturday night. It is directed by Salvatore DelGreco and highlights the talents of West Haven native, Robert James.

For decades Hubbard Pond was a mecca for skaters and hockey players once the weather turned cold. In the summer, area kids wandered back there for some swimming and a fish or two. Most of the area is built up with tract houses and suburban streets where once the family farm was spread.

With the beginning of school just around the corner, workmen at the WHHS reconstruction site are working double time to get concrete poured for foundational work. The plan is to get foundations in so the new building’s construction can begin. Plans call for sections of the building to be demolished and replaced with a fall 2020 deadline

With only two weeks before school reopens workman at the West Haven High School campus are attempting to get as much done as possible. Over the last several weeks major foundational work was done so construction for the redesigned building can begin. It is hoped the new school will be open in the fall of 2020.
