Donation for roof
Annawon Lodge Worshipful Master Steven R. Mullins presents a check for $1,000 to Rose Majestic, Executive Director of the West Haven Emergency Assistance Task Force (WHEAT). The money was raised at the Lodge’s First Responders Awards Dinner last November and will go directly towards the roof replacement fund. The organization took out a loan for roof repairs. Paintings donated
City native David Stannard displays his paintings of former West Haven institutions — Chick’s Drive-in, 183 Beach St., and The Bilco Co., 37 Water St. — on the first floor of City Hall Jan. 3. Stannard, 58, now of Northford, donated the glass framed oil pastels to the city, which hang on the wood-paneled wall outside the assessor’s office.

The West Haven Peewee A travel hockey team took home the Gold Medal during a holiday tournament in Lake Placid, NY, this past weekend. The Westies went 4-0 and outscored their opponents 26-3 in the tournament.
Tourney winners
The West Haven Girls Basketball 5th grade travel team captured the Wallingford Boys and Girls Club Christmas Tournament championship with a 31-27 come-from-behind win over host Wallingford. The team trailed 20-9 at halftime before rallying for the win. The team went 3-0 over the course of the tournament.
