First responders conduct drill
Mayor Nancy R. Rossi, green jacket, joins first responders as they participate in an armed intruder drill at the former Thompson Elementary School, 165 Richards St., on June 6. The large-scale drill, conducted by the city’s Police Department and three fire departments as well as emergency medical service personnel, was held to prepare first responders for an armed intruder incident. The five-hour drill was the culmination of six months of planning. More than 100 people participated, and many outside agencies attended.

Blue Horse catering to all crowds
West Haven Mayor Nancy Rossi cuts the red ribbon at the grand opening of The Blue Horse, West Haven’s newest bar and restaurant, on Friday. State Rep. Charles Ferraro [beard] and Blue Horse co- owner Tara Severino [white t-shirt, center] were among the 50 people who attended. Located at 703 Campbell Ave., The Blue Horse replaces the former Spectators that closed several years ago and is opposite the Duchess Diner a few blocks from downtown West Haven.
Dive Bar celebrates expansion

It also offers eyelash extensions, has a makeup artist, and offers massages by a licensed massage therapist.

West Haven’s AJ Harp wheels into action in Saturday’s game with Bristol Knights at Noyes Field. The locals split a double-header, dropping the first game, 9-7, and then rebounding for a 13-2 win.
Win league title
The St. Lawrence School varsity baseball team won the Greater New Haven Parochial Athletic League championship on June 4 beating St. Rita’s of Hamden, 6-1. Notre Dame squads end seasons
The 2018-19 Notre Dame team athletic season came to a close with a run to the semi- finals by both the baseball and lacrosse teams. Both fell in those contests as they fell one game short of playing for a state title. The baseball team meets following its loss to Berlin.
