The West Haven High School Class of 2019 marched into history last week with commencement exercises in Ken Strong Stadium before hundreds of family and friends.

First milestone
West Haven Community House recently conducted its annual Head Start graduation exercises in front of parents and friends at the Elm Street campus. Seventy preschoolers successfully prepared for Kindergarten by completing the program. This is the first graduation for this group of youngsters, and will certainly not be the last.
Weekend entertainer
Local troubadour “Papa Bill” was caught by local shutterbug JoAnn Callegari during one of his afternoon sets at the Boardwalk along the shore. Using a car battery to power his electric guitar, the singer takes requests and entertains many along the beach who are looking for leisurely stroll or to just sit and listen.
Sawicki places fifth
Notre Dame High School’s Jason Sawicki of West Haven (shown with ND Head Coach Glenn Xavier) took his high jumping talents to the New Balance National Track Meet in Greensboro, NC and came home with a fifth-place finish.
