Sharks cruise shore
The Shoreline Sharks Marathon and Half-Marathon took place in West Have on Saturday morning, with hundreds of runners taking part, looping the city twice in the 26-mile race, once for the half race. The certified course allowed competitors to compete for other races, such as the Boston Marathon. One-third of the race was along the shoreline, which gave a different type of competition to the usual joggers and walkers along the route.

The Notre Dame Green Knights and Fairfield Prep Jesuits faced off last week at Yale’s Ingalls Rink for the CIAC Division I state championship. The Knights were hoping to cop their eighth state title in the history of the program before an evenly divided 4,000 at the venerable facility. In the end, the Jesuits came out on top, 5-2, to win their 18th title in the 40-plus years the program has been in existence. It was a night of frustrations for the local team and its rooters.

This artist’s rendering of the Altschuler Building shows a structure that has been featured in various photographs of the city’s Green and surrounding area since the 1800s. One of the oldest buildings in the city, it has served many capacities and had many names before it was purchased by the Altschuler Family.
