Newest alumni
The Notre Dame Class of 2018 takes is place among the alumni of the storied school following graduation exercises Sunday. After receiving their diplomas, the grads filed out onto the school’s practice field to participate in the traditional tossing of the mortarboards.
The Annual Open House Weekend at the Historical Society will feature a photographic display of school pictures. It runs Saturday, June 9 from 10-4 and Sunday, June 10 from 11-4. Click title for more info.

WHHS’s Eugene Pacapelli & Mackenzie Holy were recently named the SCC Spring Athlete of the Year. Holy is a four-year member of the soccer and lacrosse team and she has a 4.0 GPA and will be attending Western New England College in the fall. Pacapelli is a four-year member of the boys hockey team with a 3.9 GPA and he will be attending the University of New Haven. Click title for WHHS sports wrap up.
Helps Sharks to title
Taylor Nowak was part of the Shoreline Sharks as they captured their second USA Girls Tier II National Championship in a tournament in Marlborough, MA, April 9. The team made up of high school-aged players from all over the state edged the Vermont Shamrocks, 1-0, for the title. Nowak accounted for four of 21 goals scored by the Sharks in the tournament. In her high school career, Nowak was selected All-State as a member of the West Haven High-Sacred Heart Academy Sharks. She was one of eight players returning from last year’s championship.
Spring scholar athletes
James Delgado and Amanda Carr who were named the CIAC Scholar Athletes of the Year from WHHS. Delgado is a four-year member and captain of the tennis team. He is ranked number one in the class and will be attending the University of Connecticut in the fall. Carr is a four-year member and captain of the girls basketball team and is ranked 19th in the class. She will be attending Springfield College in the fall. Also attending the ceremony are coaches Mike Bartone and Jessica Moriarty.
