The West Haven Seahawks, teams sponsored by the Ray Tellier Midget Football League, opened the 53rd season of youth football at Veterans Field, Saturday. The opener saw the young flag teams take the field, before the bigger fellows got a chance. The Seahawks swept their opening games and await further action this weekend.

New law aids vets
Joined by military veterans, legislators, and advocates, Gov. Ned Lamont signed legislation to establish the Military to Machinist Program at the West Haven Veterans Museum and Learning Center. Besides Mayor Nancy Rossi (far left) and State Rep. Dorinda Borer (D-115), Sen. James Maroney (behind), originator of the bill was there at the signing. lt was one of three new laws adopted with the intention of expanding the ability of veterans to access certain state services and provide assistance after they have returned to civilian life.
