U-14 girls top East Haven in soccer

October 10, 2019 By whvoice

The Elite Soccer Camps U14 girls travel team hosted East Haven Sunday afternoon, in a rematch from earlier in the season.  The first go-round saw the two teams earn a 1-1 draw, but the Westies came out on top, 4-1, this time.  West Haven went up 1-0 in the first half, and then dominated in the second half, with goals from Isabella Eyler, Alexandria Nunes and Aylin Soto.  Soto had a strong game, connecting passes and breaking up plays, as did the centerback pairing of Niamh Chesson and Chloe Whelan.

The P&B Express U14 Lady Westies came out strong on Saturday capturing a 5-1 win against New Haven.  Madyson Ortiz and Josephina Lakaj both scored, with assists by Natalie Reed, Nada El Mouki and Aliana Tepetl.  Jade Rivas Resuleu, Amanda Fagnani, Madden Evangeliste and Sarahi Cruz-Cruz were solid in midfield.  Jayden Braacker, Angelina Messina, Katelynn Salgado and Sydni Gayle provided strong defense throughout, especially combined with Bellarose Ramirez in goal to put up a second half shutout.

On Sunday, the Oyster River Energy West Haven girls U11 team played Clinton in front of a home crowd for a 6-0 win.  Strong defense was shown by Amiyah Jones. Kayla Quantanilla and Cristel Miguel shared keeper duties. Goals were scored by Nylah Beyah, Katarina Oliveira, and Kaylee Pellino. A great game was played by the whole team in the win over Clinton.

The Milano & Wanat West Haven U14 boys played in the first round of the Connecticut Cup on Saturday afternoon, overtaking a tough Madison, 2-1.  Bobby Severino played a great game, as did Sebastian Treat.  Robert Foley was strong in the midfield.  The team was back in action Sunday, traveling to Wallingford, and coming home 5-0 winners.  Dylan Petrie worked hard, and Evan Amoro played some great passes.

On Saturday the West Shore Family Dental U10 girls tied Branford, 1-1, in a hard-fought contest.  Kylie Gibbons scored the tying goal after the Westies went down, 1-0.  Sophia Locklear and Hailey Dargon played strong defense.  Lulu Sebas and Jada Ciliberti held down the midfield.  Chelsea Hernandez had several nice passes, and Lynnie Chesson made key saves in goal.  On Sunday, the girls were back in action losing to Meriden, 5-4.  Goals were scored by Hailey Dargon, Kylie Gibbons, Haleigh McCarthy and Arianna Throm.  Sopohia Empric made several nice crossing passes to set up goals.  Sophia Locklear showed excellent speed on defense while Angelina Torres showed good determination and footwork with the ball.

The Elite Soccer Camps Golden Dragons played Gunning Law Firm to a 1-1draw.  Roland Green scored for Gunning Law Firm after his team blocked a shot on goal and the ball rolled out to him to calmly take down the field and put in the back of the net.  The Dragons fought back, with Luca DeCrescenzo netting the equalizer off a pass from Jax Guarino as Ben Trenchard’s movement off the ball cleared a shooting lane.

Nick’s Luncheonette Dragons played the Jason Ranalli Grey Ghosts on Saturday, with the Dragons taking the win, 5-4.  Dylan Narvaez, Jaxon Cruz and Sammy Gartani were the stars of the day for the Dragons.  The Sweet Relief Catering Blue Thunder came out on top over George Ellis Company, Inc.  It was a great back-and-forth game, with the Blue Thunder coming out on top, 6-5.  A goal was scored by Isaiah Ramsey.

The Stars Ice Cream Gold Stars played the Rock House School of Music, with the Stars winning, 6-3.  Jada and Bianca Davila worked together on defense to stop the opposing team.  Cheyenne Sebas and Olivia Morretti both scored goals for their team.  The WH Federation of Teachers Local 1542 Mini-Blueberries played Top Hat Dance Academy losing, 6-1. Later on the boys played against Frank Agvent Plumbing and Heating, where Joel Batres excelled on offense, along with the fantastic play of Curtis Diaz and Kaleb Feliciano.

The Shoreline Wellness Blue Diamonds won against Keenan Funeral Home, 2-1. Ava Pellino scored the winning goal in the last five seconds of the game.
