The U14 Girls Travel team had a tough match-up at home against North Haven, Saturday. Gillian Wynus and Naomi Shubin worked to get the ball up the field, but the girls fell short, losing 5-0. On Sunday, the girls were on the road in Stratford. Alivia Reilly and Josylyn Daliva took control of the defense. Excellent teamwork and passing led to goals by Luciana Cappetta, resulting in a 2-2 tie.
The Pro Acc & Tax Service Lightning Fairies played against Meledes Construction, despite the rain. LilithBelle Warcholic played fantastic and was strong on defense. Katarina Stratton took control of the ball throughout the game and never hesitated to run it up the field, giving the team opportunities to score. Savannah Gilchrist and Adrianna Thomas scored. For Meledes Construction, Anna Howery, Fiona Greene and Mackenzie Vargas all scored. Lots of hustle and great defense from Marwa Elfilali and Aliyana Crenshaw kept the game competitive.
The Lorenzo’s Ristorante Green Beans defeated Mad Mikes Cheesecake, 6-4. Ashlyn Johnson, Natalia Nhean, Ariana Tolentino and Giuliana Graveli all played a great game in the win. The Elite Soccer Camps Green Grasshoppers kept strong spirits through their first loss this season, as they fell 6-1 to Vio’s SportsPlus. Milan Angi and Zion Jordan had strong determined games, while Josiah Perez and Yossef El Haouzi gave valiant efforts in the net.
The wet weather was not enough to stop the action between the West Haven Professional Firefighters, who came up short against the West Haven Italian Civic Association, 5-2. The WH Professional Firefighters were led on offense by Mohamed Omar, Ramiro Piatti, and Mohamed Nasr. Anchoring the defense was Nazih Majaini and Nathan Telfort-Charles. Doniel Agustin filled in superbly in net.
