Umbrella Impact is a West Haven-based 501c-3 non-profit organization with a mission, not only to award students with incentives for academic progress but to empower students by addressing character, community, and financial skills. Umbrella Impact offers a variety of different opportunities for youth in the community.
The “10 to WIN” Project provides children in families with low to moderate incomes the chance to learn essential skills and information through application and hands-on instruction. Boys and girls in grades 3 through 8 can join the program as 10 children are accepted per session. The first session runs from September to December and focuses on financial literacy and entrepreneurship, with the from February to May, concentrating on character development, etiquette, and community engagement. These skills are considered crucial for future success, including managing finances, developing business sense, and maintaining integrity.
The small group ensures personalized attention and a supportive environment, encouraging more profound understanding and a lasting impact on each child. After successful completion of this program, youngsters will receive a Roth IRA and/or a 529 plan.
Another notable program we offer is the Muffie Locke Incentive Award. This award supports children who progress in their learning and wish to continue to participate or enter into a fee-based extracurricular activity, but whose families may struggle with associated costs.
Umbrella Impact considers the child’s progress through the school reporting system, family income, and the caregivers’ commitment to their child’s activity. Through an interview process, the award is presented to the child at an annual June cotillion.
A new therapeutic service at the group’s office is offered. The office is located at 377 Main St. Suite 105, across from the Green. The Connecticut Wellness Center for individuals and family therapy, provides a range of support to cater to emotional, psychological, and social well-being for both adults and children.
The team includes licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT), Licensed masters’ in social work (LMSW’), and Ph.D.’s, who specialize in various areas such as individual therapy and family counseling. For those participating in the Umbrella Impact program, reduced fees are offered, providing accessible and comprehensive care for the community.
