The West Haven Historical Society plans a Walking/Bus tour of the West Shore area on Saturday, Sept. 30. Departing from the Poli House, 686 Savin Ave., the tour will include a walking portion from South Street to Woody Crest along Ocean Avenue and various neighborhoods in the area.
Participants will receive a packet of pictures of historic houses, maps, and photos of scenes from what was originally farmland to a popular summer enclave of cottages and impressive shorefront homes along with fine hotels, and dining establishments.
The tour will conclude at the Aimes homestead “Matinstow” in the Baybrook neighborhood before returning to the Historical Society. The cost of the two-hour (approx.) tour is $15 per person. Reservations are necessary because seating is limited. Please call Jon at (203) 933-0081 to make reservations.
