Aissatou Diallo and Nabiha Khan, seniors at West Haven High School, have been selected Match Scholarship Recipients through the QuestBridge Scholars Network. Aissatou has been accepted and granted a four-year full scholarship to Duke University, while Nabiha has been granted acceptance and a four-year full scholarship to Yale University.
This year, 1,674 students from the more than 15 million high school students in America were selected, and West Haven High School is extremely proud to have two Blue Devils amongst this .01% of high school seniors.
The QuestBridge National College Match is a national program that connects high-achieving high school seniors from low-income backgrounds with four-year scholarships to top colleges. This year, QuestBridge selected 6,312 Finalists to be considered for the QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship out of over 16,500 applicants. From there, QuestBridge’s 45 college partners matched with 1,674 Finalists who were recognized as Match Scholarship Recipients.
Aissatou will look to double-major in dance and sports medicine, and plans to pursue a career in the medical field with a focus on health administration.
“Attending Duke University seemed like an impossible feat, but thanks to my teachers, my bonus moms, the Miss Connecticut organization, and especially my guidance counselor, Norma Merced, I will be attending Duke in the fall with a full ride,” said Aissatou. “I am incredibly grateful to have been given opportunities and to have met amazing people when I came to West Haven High School my sophomore year. I truly have grown tremendously as a student and as a person during my time here, so here’s to going from a West Haven Blue Devil to a Duke Blue Devil!”
As of now, Nabiha looks to double-major in global health and language (Spanish) at Yale, and plans to pursue pre-med.
“When you put your heart and soul into something, any challenge in its way is never too hard to overcome,” said Nabiha. “The challenges are merely a door to success while the key is hard work. Though it may be difficult at times, nothing is ever unachievable with hard work. As such, I cannot wait to join the Bulldogs community and pursue my passions at arguably the most beautiful and renowned institutions.”
