The Yankee League All-Star Pentathlon included ten West Haven Wizards, who collected top finishes and best times. The All-Star Pentathlon is a season-ending meet, where all the swimmers compete in the same five events: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and a 100-yard individual medley. The times from all events are added up and the swimmer from each age group with the fastest cumulative time wins.
Six Wizards earned top 6 finishes in the Yankee League: Sophie Fonck – first place for the 6 & under Girls, Evan Piskura – first place for the 6 & under boys, Anna Piskura – first place for the 7/8 girls, Aarya Mulmi – fourth place for the 9/10 girls, Collin Charron – second place for the 11/12 boys, Kaleigh Morton – sixth place for the 13/14 girls, Carly Weber – sixth place for the 15 and over girls, Madison Hobart –fifth place for the 15 and over girls and Anya Celmer for earning first place in the 15 and over girls in her last meet with the Wizards. We would also like to congratulate Collin Charron for breaking the11/12 boys Wizards 50 backstroke record!
At the end of the All Star meet, kids got to cheer on their coaches as they raced against the coaches from all the other teams in a relay.
The Wizards’ spring season is just around the corner. The spring season is an ideal time to get involved. Registration is now open through the West Haven Parks and Recreation. The Wizards’ spring team is an eight-week stroke clinic, it is a great opportunity for new swimmers to learn all 4 strokes and fundamentals of swimming. It is also a great opportunity for experienced swimmers to refine their technique. All ages and abilities are welcome.
