The West Haven Wizards won their final home meet of the season against the Watertown Warriors , 380-287. This is the first time the Wizards have beatenWatertown since 2009, and only the second time in Wizard history.The Wizards now have a record of 3-1 with one regular season meet remaining against the Trumbull Pisces on Saturday.
Following the last home meet of the season, the Wizards traditionally do a last lap ceremony to honor all the graduating swimmers. This year’s graduating Wizards are: John Barrington, Simon Collette, Gavin Kanlong, Bradford Hatjopoulos, Mustansir Jamalee, Walter Dalton, Ariana Chen, Gaby Tunucci and Jillian Doherty. We wish them all the best as they move on to new and exciting challenges.
There have been many records broken so far this season. We would like to acknowledge the swimmers who have broken team records; Anya Celmer has broken records for the Girls 15-and-over 100-yard Breastroke, 100-yard Butterfly, 50-yard Freestyle and the 200-yard Individual Medley. Issac Gorske has broken records for the Boys 13-and-over 100-yard Freestyle, 200-yard Freestyle and 50-yard Freestyle. Vivian Freitas has broken the girls 13/14 records for the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke. The Girls 13-and-over relays have been a force to be reckoned with all season. New team records for both relays have been set; The 200-yard Freestyle relay team of Vivian Freitas, Anya Celmer, Hannah Rascoll and Jillian Doherty broke the previous record for this event and the 200-yard medley relay team of Vivian Freitas, Kaya Vital, Anya Celmer and Madison Hobart broke the record for that event.
