Will Levis was born in Newton, MA, but attended and played for Xavier High School in Connecticut.
Levis was drafted by the Tennessee Titans as the second pick of the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Many expected the Kentucky QB1 to go in the first round, instead he was left sitting in an empty green room stunned by his draft stock falling – all occurring while TV cameras were surrounding him.
Nonetheless, Levis is just one of 247 NFL players to hail from a Connecticut-based high school. Overall, 2026 features just nine CT-born players in the NFL representing Connecticut.
Now Levis is the closest he has been to home since going pro. Levis was signed by the New York Jets’ practice squad on Sept. 22.
What makes Levis have a unique connection to West Haven is that the future NFL star struggled heavily against West Haven D-lines. In fact, Will Levis made his varsity high school debut against West Haven on Sept. 11,, 2016.
Levis would go 14-12 as a starter with Xavier, posting a 1-4 combined record against the West Haven Blue Devils and the Notre Dame-West Haven Green Knights.
The Blue Devils would dominate all their three games against Levis, holding him to a combined 38/74 passing (51.3%) for 489 yards, throwing 5 touchdowns to 2 interceptions. West Haven won all three games against Levis’ Falcons, outscoring them, 107-52.
Nov. 10, 2017, featured the best game for Westies football. The Blue Devils D-line held the future second round QB1 to just 71 yards (5/13) and forced two turnovers.
Notre Dame-West Haven faced Levis just twice and split, 1-1. The private school got their sole win against Xavier with Levis under center on Oct. 11, 2016, by way of a 20-0 shutout win. The Green Knights defense allowed 106 passing yards off of just 10 completions (10/23, 43.5%).
