The U12 West Haven boys and girls teams travelled to Newington two weeks ago to participate in the annual Newington wrap-up tournament. Both teams won all four games they played against tough opponents. Both won the tournament championship.
The West Haven Youth Soccer League finished up the spring season this past weekend. Cappetta’s Italian Imports closed the season with a 1-0 win over Shoreline Wellness Center. Kylie McCoart made some great saves in goal. Celeste DiNallo was solid in defense. Luciana Cappetta scored.
The Elite Soccer Camps Red Rangers ended their season with a win over Oyster River Energy Saturday morning. Jax Guarino and Ryan Abekah scored and played great defense. Ben Trenchard picked up a hat trick in the game and used some impressive foot skills to create chances for himself and his teammates. Emmett Hemming and Luca DeCrescenzo worked up and down the field, while Matteo D’Elia scored and used moves to get past opponents. Jacob Rader continued to dazzle on the field with his dribbling, and Nathan D’Aurio made some great passes. Taylor Bell and Elias Padilla showed a lot of hustle in the win for the Rangers.
The U10 girls travel team had a great weekend at the Newington Wrap-Up tournament. The team opened the weekend winning 8-3 against New Fairfield. They went on to win their second game against Thomaston, 3-2. During both games the girls had an excellent team effort with great passing skills and defense. Kiley McCoart and Celeste DiNallo made great saves in goal with Annabelle Fiorillo dominating on defense. Luciana Cappetta and Stella Porto controlled the midfield for West Haven.
On Sunday the girls played two Wethersfield teams resulting in one win and one loss. Francesca DeMartino and Chelsea Frost worked hard to control the ball on the field. The weekend results saw West Haven placing third out of nine teams in the tournament.
