The West Haven Youth Soccer League kicked off the fall season this past weekend. The U14 West Haven Boys Travel team opened up playing away to Ansonia, winning 4-2. Jaxon Cruz and Enzo Cordova combined in goal for the win, with Ryan Abekah scored. Davonte King and Matteo D’Elia played well in midfield, while Seth Empric, Jacob Rader, and Adam Lamkhantar anchored the backline for the Westies.
The West Haven Federation of Teachers kicked off the soccer season with an exciting and hard-fought game, showcasing impressive teamwork and individual talent against Stars Ice Cream. Mason Zielanski was a standout in goal during the first half, blocking multiple shots and fearlessly pursuing the ball. Mohamed Nasr dazzled with his exceptional footwork and skills, scoring several goals and showing an unrelenting drive that kept the opposition on edge. Chenrick Dedungpa also made his mark with his speed and determination, netting multiple goals while refusing to back down.
Baybrook Remodelers tied American Legion Post 71, 4-4. Ayah Lamkhantar scored all four goals for the team with assists from Savannah Gilchrist, Vivian Andrade, and Avalyn Wilder. LilithBelle Warcholic and Charlotte Murray were goalkeepers in the match. The Milano & Wanat Grey Wolves started the season with a 7-0 win over the Building Complex. Will Marmelstein led the way with four goals. Tyler Franklin, Lucas Egraca, and Prince Guilavogui all contributed goals in the win. Keenan Funeral Home had a great first game against P & B Express. Amar Elseed found the back of the net, and Nolan Willams set-up his teammates with excellent passes. The West Haven Police Union Local 895 Wild Cats played a hard-fought battle against Frankies of West Haven, resulting in a 6-6 tie. Ace Hemming, Idris Green, and Luca D’Elia provided the goals with offensive support from Aithan DeJesus and Jonathan Dias.
