West Haven Youth Soccer has kicked off its Spring Season and has had two weeks of great play! On opening day Physicians Physical Therapy faced off against the West Haven Police Local #895 Fire Tigers, with West Haven Police coming out on top 5-2. The score was 0-0 when Shavier Medley scored the first goal of the season for the Physicians Physical Therapy. There was great defensive play by Karol Miranda-Figueroa and Brody Birmingham. For the West Haven Police Local 895 Fire Tigers Cash Papa, Ace Hemming and Idris Green all score. Tyler Dos Anjos played incredible defense. In their second game, The West Haven Police Union Local 895 Fire Tigers came back from a 4-1 deficit to end the game in a 5-5 tie against Shoreline Wellness Center. Luca D’Elia and Jacob Burton each played a great half in goal with Liam Rodriguez holding the midfield down.
The Nick’s Luncheonette FG1 Girls delivered an outstanding performance this week, showing clear improvement, teamwork, and enthusiasm from start to finish. Alyiah McCollum stood out with impressive footwork and relentless drive, contributing multiple goals to the team’s effort. Isabella Battipaglia demonstrated excellent sportsmanship along with strong defensive play, successfully blocking several scoring opportunities. Gianna Iannucci was a force throughout the game, consistently pursuing the ball with confidence and delivering an exceptional performance.
The West Haven Federation of Teachers Union 1547 delivered an incredible performance against the West Haven Professional Fire Fighters, showcasing determination, skill, and strong teamwork throughout the match. Their continued improvement was evident in every phase of play, making for an exciting game. Kwabena Genfi anchored the defense with confidence, consistently shutting down opposing players and demonstrating outstanding determination, passion, and teamwork. Mohammad Sulaimankhil was a standout on offense, combining impressive footwork, speed, and communication to create scoring opportunities, including a remarkable goal. Reda Elkazoui added to the team’s success with his quick pace, delivering multiple crosses and contributing key assists.
Baybrook Remodelers played Top Hat Dance Academy, winning 5-1. A hat trick scored by Avalyn Wilder and goals by Ayah Lamkhantar, and Chelsea Bennett led to the victory. Hamidat Tidjani was an impassable defender keeping the ball down field.
Baybrook Remodelers kept up their winning ways in week two, coming out on top 3-2 against George Ellis Company. Ayah Lamkhantar had the hat trick for the win. Addilyn Lockwood played an aggressive game taking shots on the net, and Sophia Castillo had an outstanding game. Charlotte Murray blocked shots on goal as goalie.
The Law Office of Paul V. Carty played a great first game against Stars Ice Cream. Tariya scored two goals and Jeylanni scored one. Additionally, our goalkeeper, Sophia, played a major role in securing the win. It was a great first game for the Keenan Funeral Home Orange Fires as they matched up against Wizzard Painting. Christian Venta Aguilar had a stellar game with a goal to top it off. Amar Elseed and Asher Gorham also scored, and Xavier Nanneti had a beautiful assist. The Orange Fires kept it going in week 2, coming out hot against P & B Express. Adrian Spodick scored two goals, with Jaxon Chapman and Cade Hemming adding another pair.
The Milano & Wanat Blue Panthers won 2-0 against Stowes Seafood. Amine Alijate and Vinny Iannucci both scored. Thanush Urolana showed great hustle. Cian Sullivan played solid defense to help secure the win. The Blue Panthers also won their next game, 5-0 against Physicians Physical Therapy. Blake Bova and Anthony Gambardella both contributed goals. Cameron Douglas-Rose played outstanding defense. Jalen Hoskie made unbelievable stops in goal. Jaden Conteras Del Razo and Denzel Ortega made some great defensive plays, and the new addition Joseph Nunoo had a few shots blocked.
Wizard Painting Fighting Irish took on Keenan Funeral Home in week 1. The Wizards showed great energy and teamwork on the field this week. Enzo Gray and Caleb Horvath led the way offensively with an impressive three goals each, demonstrating focus and determination. Jo Jo Stokes stood out as well, making several excellent passes that kept the ball moving and created scoring opportunities. Overall, it was a great team effort. In another exciting matchup, Wizard Painting Fighting Irish faced off against Pinky’s Embroidery & More. Levi DeMayo scored a magnificent goal made possible through a fantastic assist by Isaiah Montano. The fighting Irish showed great communication and passing skills.
The EG3 Lorenzo’s Ristorante Italiano Maroons took on the EG4 Connex Credit Union Orange Oranges. Avery Smullen scored three goals, and Lia Cummings had a strong offensive game. Madelyn DeMayo was unstoppable in the goal as well as having one of her own. The EG3 Lorenzo’s Ristorante Italiano Maroons also had a strong game against Top Hat Dance Academy. Helena Talamelli showcased her extreme goalie talent with extraordinary stops. Sahara Mencia had a strong overall performance with great defense and offense.
Frankie’s of West Haven took on Elise Encarnacion State Farm Insurance. Sterling Matterson had a solid game on offense as he moved the ball down the field. Iker Jimenez- Figueroa played great on defense and helped block the goal. First Congregational Church played their first game of the season with a 2-1 win against the University of New Haven Chargers. Goals were scored by Anessa Worrell and Ruaa Naas, playing great in goal was Annabella Prova.
