October 30, 2024 By whvoice

This past weekend saw the end of the fall season for the West Haven Youth Soccer League.  The Gunning Law Firm faced off against Keenan Funeral Home.  Christos Krikris scored the first goal of the game and went on to score another goal.  Shavier Medley and Leandro Arena also each scored a goal.  There were great defensive plays by Denzel Ortega, Jayden Contreras Del Razo, and Xavier Rios.  For the Keenan Funeral Home Gray Wolves, goals were scored by Deverton Darden-Morris, Levi DeMayo, Cade Hemming, Daniel Barnes, Ace Hemming and Zayden Jordan. Another excellent offensive performance by Idris Green and Cash Papa was also on display. Luca D’Elia played an incredible defensive game which helped secure a victory.

Jordan and D’Elia also contributed excellent defense with support from Cade Hemming and Adrian Spodick to secure the victory.

The Cappetta’s Italian Imports Strikers enthusiastically entered their final week of play against strong opposition in Wizard Painting. All of the girls played exceptionally well and showed what they learned throughout the year. Avery Smullen was a defensive wall, not allowing anything to pass while Layla Steel and Sahara Mencia pushed their team forward with great technique. These girls worked together and fought hard allowing Cappetta’s Italian Imports to take the win for the ending of a great fall season.  George Ellis Company lost a close game to the WH Professional Firefighters, 2-1.  Eli’s Orange defeated Stars Ice Cream by the same score.

P&B Express had a great end of season game with multiple goals scored by several team players against Porto Funeral Home.  The coaches are proud of the camaraderie and commitment from each player on the team.

The West Haven Federation of Teachers team’s recent victory against Taco Town was a testament to their unwavering dedication and exceptional teamwork throughout the season.  The coaches had the privilege of witnessing their remarkable growth and development, both individually and as a cohesive unit. From the very first practice, the players displayed commitment, pushing themselves to their limits and supporting one another every step of the way.

When the final whistle blew, signaling their triumph, the sheer joy and pride on their faces were truly inspiring.  The Physicians Physical Therapy Maroon Pirates took on the West Haven Police Local #895 Vipers, with the Vipers getting the 3-2 win.

RQ Accounting and Tax Services lost a heartbreaker to the Baybrook Remodelers Tigers 1-0, with the Tigers scoring the winning goal in the dying seconds of the game.  York Business Center Navy Lightning Fairies won their last game of the season against Frankie’s of West Haven, making them undefeated for the fall. Liliyani Amaro and Charlotte Murray defended the net. LilithBelle Warcholic played tough defense getting the ball up to Katie Samaniego. who ran the ball to the net many times. Charlotte Murray took many shots on the net and played an overall great game.  American Family Care defeated Elsie Encarnacion State Farm Insurance, 4-2.
