This past weekend saw the end of the fall season for the West Haven Youth Soccer League. The Gunning Law Firm faced off against Keenan Funeral Home. Christos Krikris scored the first goal of the game and went on to score another goal. Shavier Medley and Leandro Arena also each scored a goal. There were great defensive plays by Denzel Ortega, Jayden Contreras Del Razo, and Xavier Rios. For the Keenan Funeral Home Gray Wolves, goals were scored by Deverton Darden-Morris, Levi DeMayo, Cade Hemming, Daniel Barnes, Ace Hemming and Zayden Jordan. Another excellent offensive performance by Idris Green and Cash Papa was also on display. Luca D’Elia played an incredible defensive game which helped secure a victory.
The Keenan Funeral Home Gray Wolves also had another incredible showing against Thorough Restoration, with goals scored by Ace Hemming, Idris Green, Luca D’Elia, Zayden Jordan, Cash Papa and Dominic Ferris. Jordan and D’Elia also contributed excellent defense with support from Cade Hemming and Adrian Spodick to secure the victory.
The Cappetta’s Italian Imports Strikers enthusiastically entered their final week of play against strong opposition in Wizard Painting. All of the girls played exceptionally well and showed what they learned throughout the year. Avery Smullen was a defensive wall, not allowing anything to pass while Layla Steel and Sahara Mencia pushed their team forward with great technique. These girls worked together and fought hard allowing Cappetta’s Italian Imports to take the win for the ending of a great fall season. George Ellis Company lost a close game to the WH Professional Firefighters, 2-1. Eli’s Orange defeated Stars Ice Cream by the same score.
P&B Express had a great end of season game with multiple goals scored by several team players against Porto Funeral Home. The coaches are proud of the camaraderie and commitment from each player on the team.
The West Haven Federation of Teachers team’s recent victory against Taco Town was a testament to their unwavering dedication and exceptional teamwork throughout the season. The coaches had the privilege of witnessing their remarkable growth and development, both individually and as a cohesive unit. From the very first practice, the players displayed commitment, pushing themselves to their limits and supporting one another every step of the way.
When the final whistle blew, signaling their triumph, the sheer joy and pride on their faces were truly inspiring. The Physicians Physical Therapy Maroon Pirates took on the West Haven Police Local #895 Vipers, with the Vipers getting the 3-2 win.
RQ Accounting and Tax Services lost a heartbreaker to the Baybrook Remodelers Tigers 1-0, with the Tigers scoring the winning goal in the dying seconds of the game. York Business Center Navy Lightning Fairies won their last game of the season against Frankie’s of West Haven, making them undefeated for the fall. Liliyani Amaro and Charlotte Murray defended the net. LilithBelle Warcholic played tough defense getting the ball up to Katie Samaniego. who ran the ball to the net many times. Charlotte Murray took many shots on the net and played an overall great game. American Family Care defeated Elsie Encarnacion State Farm Insurance, 4-2.
The Milano & Wanat Navy sharks finnished their season undefeated with a 2-0 win against Elite Soccer Camps. Tyler Franklin and Jalen Linen both scored. Will Marmelstein played a great game at midfield. Jalen Hoskie, Jr., demonstrated great communication. the University of New Haven Chargers beat the Law Office of Paul V. Carty 4-1, while Seacrest Retirement Center tied Mad Mike’s Cheesesteaks 3-3, and Stowe’s Seafood defeated Connex Credit Union, 1-0.
As the Rec season wound down, the travel teams still compete for another couple of weeks. The Top Hat Dance Academy U10 girls travel team defeated Southington, 4-1. Riley Onde, Bianca Dinallo , and Ayah Lamkhantar scored. Angela Guerrero played both offense and defense and had an excellent game overall. Avalyn Wilder took many shots at the goal. Layla Steel was a tough defender to pass, not letting the ball get behind her throughout the game.
The U10 girls Travel team also beat North Branford, 2-1. Riley Onde played an outstanding game, making many passes and taking shots at the net and scoring. Ayah Lamkhantar also took many shots and scored. Vivian Andrade and Layla Steel played excellent defending the goalies Savanna Gilchrist and Anna Howery. Hamidat Tidjani played amazing on both defense and forward, taking many shots at the net and keeping the ball on offense for much of the game.
The Vio’s Sportsplus U14 girls Travel team were on the road in Branford Saturday where a tough battle ended in a 1-0 loss. Allie Powers, Phoebe DiNuzzo, and Josyln DaVila worked hard in defense for West Haven. On Sunday, the girls took home a 7-0 win against Ansonia with goals by Emma Routh, Luciana Cappetta, Kylee McCoart, Mia Montes, and Maddie Marion.
