The Elite Soccer Camps West Haven girls U-12 travel team lost to a tough Milford team on opening weekend, 5-3. Milford jumped to an early lead before the Westies settled down and tried to climb back into the game. Ariana Izzo opened the scoring for West Haven with a goal from a free kick. Camryn Beauvais also scored for West Haven. Camryn and Brooke Flaherty both played a strong game, and Sophia DeRosa made some key stops in the goal.
The two West Haven U-11 girls travel teams, West Haven Thunder and West Haven Lightning, opened the fall season against each other. It was an even match as all of the Westies battled hard. The Lightning came out on top, 4-3. Aylin Soto scored a nice goal for the Lightning, and Amanda Fagnani answered for the Thunder. Ashlynn Trenchard, Molly Gunning, and Adelicia Parise all played well for the Lightning, while Lea Boguniecki, Amyah Kelly, Jayden Braacker, and Andreya Bridges all put in a solid effort for the Thunder.
The West Haven U-15 team played a great game at home at Duffy Fields, winning by a score of 2-1. Scoring came from Donaldo Yanez and John Portillo. Excellent soccer skills were on display by Jason Ardito, Brian Rivas. Goaltending was covered by the tandem of Holden Axelrod and Brian Carew.
In the CDB Division on Saturday, the CDB4 Red Team was defeated by the CDB1 Green Knights, 8-1. The Green Knights had two goals and two assists by Myles Ligon, two goals and an assist by Joseph Lakaj, two goals by Edward Perez, one goal by Chauncey Best and one by Andrew Bello. Alexander Alfonso also had two assists. The Knights played an excellent defensive game led by goalie Quinn Eyrich.
Meanwhile in the CD Girls Division, the Oyster River Energy Soccer Rockers lost, 3-1, to Connecticut Pest Elimination. The defense was led by Magaly , LLlianay, and Yamilette Romero. The entire team played well together in their first game of the fall season.
In the EG Girls Division action, the Cappetta’s Italian Imports Red Fireballs, by a score of 3-2 in their season opener to the Baybrook Remodelers Maroon team in the last minute of the game. Natalie Reed and Madden Evangeliste each scored a goal, assisted by Mariella Cappetta and Sarahi Cruz-Cruz. Madison and Mackenzie Jackcics supported well on defense with the solid tandem goaltending of Melissa Valtierra and Alexandria Lindsay.
In G Boys Division, GB3 won, 10-8, in a shoot-out. GB3 was led in scoring by Bastian Tandazo with 7 goals and Adam Lennon chipped in with a goal and on defense.
