The West Haven High School football team had a historic season in which the Blue Devils reached the CIAC Class LL State Championship Game, marking their first state finals appearance in 20 years. West Haven finished the season with a 10-3 overall record and racked up several postseason accolades.
Most recently, three Blue Devils were named to the 2023 Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) All-State Teams; senior running back Camren Kemp, senior wide receiver Armani Reid, and junior quarterback Nick Conlan. Kemp and Reid were named Top-28 players in the State, while Conlan was the lone quarterback selected on the Class LL/L Offensive Team.
West Haven was just one of five teams with multiple players selected in the Top-28, as North Haven, Staples, and Windsor had two selections as well, and New Canaan led the way with three.
In addition to the All-State recognition, Conlan, Kemp, and Reid were also previously named Southern Connecticut Conference (SCC) Tier 1 All-Conference selections on offense while senior Aedan Coe (defensive back) was named a Tier 1 Defensive honoree.
Conlan highlighted the list as he was named the 2023 SCC Co-Player of the Year and head coach Rich Boshea was named the 2023 SCC Coach of the Year
