Annawon Lodge of Ancient, Free & Accepted Masons of West Haven Worshipful Master Joseph F. McVety, Jr presented awards and charitable monetary donations at the Lodge’s annual awards night recently.
Commemorative pins were presented to Lodge members with milestone anniversaries, including Brother Richard Werner, who received his 60-year pin.
McVety also presented awards to members and some wives and significant others that have made in-kind contributions to the Lodge over the past year.
In addition to Lodge members and affiliates, Brother Jerry Nero, President of the Annawon Lodge Fellowcraft Club presented at check for $500.00 to West Haven Community House Executive Director Amy Guay-MacFarlane. The Community House is a nonprofit organization that facilitates healthy, productive, independent, meaningful lives for children, adolescents, families and individuals with disabilities.
The club also presented a check for $8,500.00 to House of Heroes Executive Director Carol May. Founded in 2000, House of Heroes is a nonprofit organization that serves veterans and their spouses that are disabled, or facing financial difficulties. Many veterans served are from West Haven. The funds were raised from the Club’s annual golf outing.
“It is important for West Haven’s Freemasons to give back to the West Haven community,” said McVety.
