Kelly speaks at Society confab
The West Haven Historical Society will hold its September meeting on tonight, and will feature a talk by Tree Warden Leo Kelly. Kelly will speak on “The Trees of West Haven” and the event is open to the public.
The gathering will begin at 7 at the Poli House and a business meeting will precede the talk. Kelly, a licensed arborist, will discuss the effects that disease and insect infestation along with the very hot summer has had on various trees throughout the city.
The Historical Society meets monthly on the second Thursday at the Poli House, 686 Savin Ave., across
from the Green. Its meetings are open to the public and new members are always welcome.
Board to hear appeals on vehicle assessments
The Board of Assessment Appeals will meet 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 in the assessor’s office on the first floor of City Hall, 355 Main St., to hear appeals of motor vehicle assessments on the 2017 grand list.
Any owner of a city-registered vehicle can appeal the assessment.
