Dear Eleanore Turkington:
Be careful on Burwell Place, just off Campbell Avenue. My UNH son hit that crater (pothole 20 x 28 x 8) at 11 p.m. recently in the pouring rain recently, April 26. The tire went flat and had sidewall damage and had to be replaced. The front- end alignment was way off. Total repair $350.00 that a college student doesn’t have. Please West Haven, repair this before someone else incurs the same damage and repair costs.

Dear Eleanore Turkington:
As a senior citizen driver residing on Leete Street every day it is unavoidable. There is a huge pothole 2 ft. x 3 ft. on Peck Avenue and Leete Street. It is a safety issue. Please fill and repair.
Main Street Resident
Dear Main Street Resident:
I have notified Councilman Aaron Charney and Councilwoman Bridgette Hoskie about the Leete Street pothole. When they return with a reply, you will read it here. Please let me know when you see this pothole repaired.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
There is a pot hole at the intersection of Platt Avenue and Sorenson from plows. There is also another pothole 30 feet from Sorenson in front of the mailbox at 5 Sorenson Road. The pothole is in the middle of the road adjacent to the manhole. Can the road conditions here be improved?
Sorenson Road Resident
Dear Sorenson Road Resident:
I have forwarded your complaint to Councilwoman Tracy Morrissey. I have asked her to investigate your complaint and to update Gripe Vine readers.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
All the streets near Pine Street and Forest Road are full of potholes to the point that they damaged the steering rack of my car with a repair cost of $3,666. Who is going to pay for the damages? I have lived in West Haven since 2000 and paid my taxes on time. How am I supposed to drive my 91-year- old grandmother and mother to doctors’ appointments? How am I going to get to work?
Pine Street Taxpayer
Dear Pine Street Taxpayer:
I have forwarded your complaint to Councilman Peter Massaro. Councilman Massaro is usually prompt with his replies. Meanwhile, let me know if there is any improvement here.
Dear Eleanore Turkington:
There is a traffic light malfunction at Campbell Avenue and Lamson Street. The traffic light is at the bottom of the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. It has been blinking for at least three days. This makes it extremely dangerous for VA employees/visitors who are trying to leave the hospital during rush hour because no one on Campbell Avenue wants to stop for them.
I have witnessed several near accidents in the last three days. I have reported it twice to the West Haven Police, one of whom I spoke with, rather than leaving a message. I also left a message with the mayor’s office and she was very nice. This has happened multiple times in the past and everyone wants to shift blame to some other department. There has been a death on that corner, I believe related to this phenomenon in the past. It needs to be fixed immediately.
