The West Haven Seahawk cheerleading squads traveled to the Paul Tsongas Center located in Lowell, Mass this past weekend to compete along with hundreds of other teams from the Pop Warner new England region.
The Junior Peewee (9 and 10) team came in first place and was crowned New England Regional Champions in their large division. The team will now travel to ESPN’s Wide World of Sports located at Disneyworld in December where they will have squads from the other eight regions for the chance to win a national championship.
The Peewee cheerleaders came in second place for both their competition and sideline routines. The squad faced very good competition and was named New England Region runner up. The top two teams in each division move onto the National Championships.
The junior Varsity team faced ten other squads from the New England region in the small division and really performed well. They were crowed New England champions in both their competition and sideline routines. They will join the Junior Peewee and Peewee squads at the national championships.
The Mitey Mite squad (7 & 8) performed well with competition from all the states and did not place. The team had a very successful year and the future looks bright.
