The West Haven Seahawks teams traveled to Providence this past weekend and although playing competitive, the ball did not bounce their way. The Junior Varsity team raced to a 13-0 lead over the West Elmwood Invaders, led by two Donovan Davis touchdowns. The Invaders came back for a 14-13 win late in the fourth quarter in a very exciting game. The Hawks’ offensive line played well and was anchored by Jayden Ginsberg, Anthony Petruzziello, Justin Givens, Jonathon Rodriquez and Andrew Mcmenemy. The defense played physical and was led by Robert Torres with two interceptions, Connor Holy and Trevor Tompkins.
The Junior Peewee team lost a tough Battle with the Mt. Hope Cowboys, RI, 6-0. The game was a defensive battle throughout. Running back Bryan Tillman led the offensive attack while Aedan Coe, Ethan Holy, Anthony Dorsi and Tillman all played well on defense.
The Unlimited team ran into a very talented West Elmwood team and lost, 40-7. Jahzire Massey, and Matteo Petruzziello played well for the Seahawks.
The Mighty Mite team fell to Mt. Hope, 26-7. Azriel Pizarro and Tristan Crawford both rushed for over 100 yards and TJ Stevenson scored the Seahawk touchdown. Colin Murray, Yusef Turner, Arthur Rossi and Crawford led the defense.
The flag football team (5 and 6 year olds) traveled to Danbury played great football. The team was led by standouts Jack Hart, Chase Samperi and Zelig Dawson.
The Peewee team struggled against the Mt. Hope Cowboys and lost, 32-7, after a very close and competitive first half. Trysten Dos, Avian Evans and Javier Smith played well on both sides of the ball. The Seahawks will travel to Hartford this weekend.
