The Juniors Peewee team (6-1) matched up against the Stratford Redskins (5-2) in a game to decide the division and seeding in the Pop Warner playoffs. The Seahawks bested the Redskins, 7-0, in a tough and physical defensive match-up.
Running back Bryan Tillman scored the lone Seahawk touchdown and quarterback Nick Conlon connected with Ethan Holy for the extra point conversion. The defense was led by Holy, Aedan Coe, Anthony Dorsi and Keandre Lymon who had a late game interception to stop a Stratford drive and protect the victory.
The Mighty Mite Seahawks (7-9 Year olds) topped the Stratford Redskins, 19-0, to qualify for the playoffs. Azriel Pizarro rushed for two touchdowns and Tristan Crawford added another behind the strong blocking of the offensive line anchored by Anthony Ianotti, Yusef Turner, Darryl Small, TJ Stevenson and Audrey Mack. The defense was led by Colin Murray, Arthur Rossi, Pizarro, Crawford and Stevenson.
The Peewee Seahawks stumbled in an out-of-division match-up with West Elmwood (Providence, RI), 30-0. Tristan Dos, Avian Evens and Javier Smith played well for the Seahawks.
The Junior Varsity team lost to a very talented Stratford Redskin team, 26-0.
The Seahawk Cheerleaders excelled at the Southern Connecticut Pop Warner Competition held at the New Haven Field House. The Challenger/Sprit team and the Tiny Mites (5-6) put on very good exhibitions in front of a filled house. The Mighty Mite team (7-9) took 1st place in their division. The Junior Peewee team placed 4th with a very good routine. The Peewee team placed 1st in both competition and sideline game day performances. The Junior Varsity squad placed 2nd in the conference competition and 1st place in their sideline game-day routine.
The Peewee and Junior Varsity squads will advance to the New England Regional Cheerleading Competition to be held in Lowell, MA on Nov. 3-4.
The Seahawk football teams will be home for the final week of the regular season on Saturday with the Mighty Mites playing the first game at 9 vs. Waterbury and the Unlimited Division hosting the last game of the day vs Amity beginning at 5.
