The West Haven Seahawks’ Junior Varsity team bounced back this week with a very exciting and impressive 40-12 win over the Waterbury Patriots. The offense was led by Dylan Whitlow who was responsible for three touchdowns, two long passes to Robert Torres and one rushing score. Devin Robinson had a 78-yard rushing touchdown and quarterback Jayden Roby connected with Donovan Davis for another 36-yard scoring play. The defense was stingy led by Trevor Tompkins, Connor Holy and Cayden Drost who had an interception.
The Junior Peewee team improved to 3-1 on the season with a 12-0 win at Waterbury. Quarterback Nick Conlon and running back Aedan Coe each had a rushing touchdown. Running back Bryan Tillman ran the ball with authority for the Hawks.
The young Seahawks’ defense recorded its third shutout of the season with efforts from Ethan Holy, Joey Copela, Coe and Tillman.
The flag football team (5 & 6) traveled to Seymour and excelled on offense and defense led by Jaden Spell, Jackson Boynton and Jaxson Ryan.
The Mighty Mite team (7-9) fell to a very good Waterbury Patriot team, 20-0. The offense drove the ball but struggled to score. Quarterback Mason Wright, Tristan Crawford, Jorrae Dupree, Colin Murray and Azrial Pizarro played well on offense. The defense was led by Yusef Turner with two interceptions. The Peewee team had a bye week and will return to action Saturday.
The Unlimited team lost a tough game to the Bridgeport Raiders, 28-7. The game was closer than the score with the Seahawks down, 14-7, at the half. Quarterback Hannah Borrows played well. Kadeer Dembele scored the Seahawk touchdown. Running back Mateo Petruzziello ran the ball very well for the hawks. Vicent Nacca, Christain Lewis and Justin Teodosio played well on both sides of the ball.
The Seahawks will be home for the first time this season at Veterans Field on Saturday. The Junior Peewees will host the New Haven Steelers at 1 p.m. The Peewee team will host the New Britain Raiders at 3 and the Unlimited team will host the New Haven Steelers at 5.
