The West Haven Swim Club swimmers are finishing off the season with multiple placements during the Yankee League championship meet on Feb, 18. The West Haven team finished strong with a first for the boys 9-10 200-yard medley relay.
Marvin Castillo brought in the first place for West Haven for boys 9-10 100-yard freestyle, while Austin Carr placed second for the boys 11-12 100-yard freestyle. Blake Carr qualified for third place in the boys’ 9-10 50-yard butterfly. In the girls 15 & over 100-yard butterfly, Kales Morton earned the top spot.
For the 200-yard freestyle events, Naomi Shubin placed second for the girls and Austin Carr for the 11-12 age group, and Erin Morton came in second for girls 15 & over. Marvin Castillo pulled in a strong first for the boys 9-10 50-yard backstroke. For girls 15 & over, Olivia DeLauri qualified for the 100-yard backstroke.
Kales Morton came in first for the 200-yard IM for girls 15 & over while Roman Shubin also qualified for All-Stars with a third-place finish for the boys 13 & over.
Gabriel Gyurkovics took the top qualifying spot for boys 9-10 50-yard breaststroke, and Naomi Shubin came in second for girls 11-12. Erin Morton placed second girls 15 & over 100-yard breaststroke. Blake Carr was first for boys 9-10 50-yard freestyle. The tean=m earned a first for the boys 9-10 200-yard freestyle relay.
The team rankings so far put for West Haven in third place with 1,071 points, behind Splash with 1,501 and New Milford Barracudas with 1,147 points.
