High School construction heads into the final stage
Demolition of the old high school entrance and auditorium was completed after weeks of
remediation under a bubble. The construction of the new school is heading into its final stages
with the old gymnasium area next on the list for falling to the wrecker’s ball.

The West Haven Board of Education is working to implement its re-opening plans under the guidelines set up by the State of Connecticut’s COVID-19 guidelines. The plan breaks down classroom procedures and addressed frequently asked questions about school safety. The entire plan can be seen at http://www.whschools.org/. School officials, meanwhile, displayed some classroom arrangements contemplated for next month’s opening. Shown here, Savin Rock School’s classrooms show how social distancing will be implemented.

Sea breezes
The sweltering heat and humidity of the past two weeks had residents flocking to the shore for some relief. Temperatures have hovered near 90 since the middle of July, and the forecasts for the next few days -- following the tropical storm expected earlier this week- promise to stay in “Dog Days of Summer” mode.
