Valentine's Day circa 1900
Victorian England began the practice of Feb. 14 being a day to celebrate couples and L-O-V-E, though now one is sure how an ancient martyr became the patron saint of l’amour. This postcard, circa 1900, indicates sending out Valentine Cards to friends was a common practice very soon.
