Chamber honorResident Erin Eberhardt recently won the Board of Director of the Year Award during recent ceremonies, sponsored by the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes the director who has shown “exceptional dedication, leadership, and contribution to the organization’s success.” Shown with her is Kevin Wiersman, Chamber Board Chairman, who made the presentation. She is employed by West Shore Associates as a print and promotional advertising specialist. -

Dubel’s Cafe tees off for fundOrganizers and participants of the annual Dubel’s Golf Tournament gather at a post-event reception in the backyard of Dubel’s Cafe. The October tournament, co-chaired by Dubel’s owner Fred Hugendubel and Art Gilbert, raised $5,200 for the West Haven Breast Cancer Awareness Program’s Susan A. Ruickoldt Scholarship Fund. The fund was founded in March 2003 to raise breast cancer awareness in honor of Susan Ruickoldt, who taught third grade at Savin Rock Community School before dying of breast cancer in 1997. Each spring since 2003, scholarship organizers have awarded $2,000 in Ruickoldt’s memory to a female high school senior from West Haven who plans to continue her education. -

Rotary Student of the MonthWest Haven High School senior Joshua Stevens was recently named a West Haven Rotary Club Student of the Month. Stevens has shown steady dedication in the classroom, earning a 4.3 GPA, High Honor Roll status, and serving as President of the National Honor Society. He is a leader in the WHHS music program, taking on roles such as senior drum major, co-trumpet section leader, and an active member of the jazz ensemble, as well as Student Council, Rostrum Club, and Peer Advocate Club shows that he is someone who consistently steps up and contributes to school life in meaningful ways. Stevens volunteers at local schools, helps at town events, supports nonprofit projects, and gives his time at his church. He shows up, works hard, and looks for ways to make a positive impact wherever he can. His actions reflect the values the Rotary Club celebrates, and he represents WHHS with pride through everything he does.
