People gather in Old Grove Park to commemorate West Haven’s 100th birthday June 24 — 100 years to the day of West Haven’s incorporation by the General Assembly as Connecticut’s youngest town. The West Haven Centennial Celebration kicked off with a 1980s tribute concert performed by The Pop Rocks.

Officer volunteers
Members of Vertical Church on Meloy Road sponsor a Thursday food distribution to needy families in the church parking lot. Anyone in need is welcome to pick up food from 9:30 to noon. Officers of the West Haven Police Dept. are part of the volunteer squad that makes the distributions.

The return of normalcy following the COVID-19 pandemic allowed a complete graduation ceremony on a summer’s evening. The class was feted by school officials, and given a final word by Class President Mackenzie Gardner, and the Valedictory Address by Hunter Axelrod.

Centennial babies will get a free gift
