Delayed fireworks still enthrall thousands
Rockets explode over Bradley Point in a shower of red, white and blue sparks at the Savin Rock Fireworks Spectacular on July 5. The half-hour pyrotechnic show, presented by the Savin Rock Fireworks Committee, was postponed from July 3 because of thunderstorms.

'Way to Go!' Award
City crossing guard Lisa Corvera receives the “Way to Go!” award from the West Haven Interagency Network for Children at Elm Street and Union Avenue on June 13. Corvera was presented with the award at her guard post on the last day of school by city Youth and Family Services Director Diane Dietman for “always smiling and waving at passing vehicles in whatever weather conditions while performing her daily duties to ensure the safety of children at the busy intersection.”
White City aglow
At the turn of the 20th Century electric lights were all the rage. Illumination by the incandescent lamp was the height of fashion, and people came out to see the wonder of the new invention. Savin Rock was aglow each night in the White City, the main section of the park, following the leads of other amusement areas. This postcard of the White City tower captures what people of that era came out to see in this most recent installment of our look back when West Haven was a resort destination.

Fellowcraft scholarship
The Fellowcraft Club of Annawon Lodge, 115 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of West Haven presented a $500 scholarship check to Joseph Malangone, who graduated from West Haven High School last month. Malangone will be attending Texas A & M University this fall.
