In addition to weeding all nine of the Sandy Point gardens, volunteers planted several colorful annual flowering plants that had been donated by the Savin Rock Surf Shop on Captain Thomas Boulevard to create an appealing entryway to the Bird Sanctuary.

Patronal feast
Members of the Annawon Lodge, 115, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of West Haven, under the leadership of Worshipful Master Johnny Garcia celebrated the Feast of Saint John the Baptist at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit last week at the parish’s 9 a.m. Mass. John the Baptist is one of two patron saints of Freemasonry worldwide. The other is Saint John the Evangelist. In Masonic circles, they are known as the “Holy Saints John of Jerusalem. The guest celebrant for the mass was the Rev. Kathryn Greene-McCreigh of Christ Episcopal Church in New Haven.

GOP food distribution
Saturday, June 18 the West Haven Republican Town Committee hosted a food distribution on Forest Road in Allingtown. Twelve pallets of non-perishable food and water were delivered by a donated eighteen-wheeler from Anthony Augliera Moving and Storage Company. Goods were distributed to over 400 West Haven residents that day. Numerous candidates helped out, led by Republican gubernatorial nominee Bob Stefanowski and his wife Amy. Also State Senate candidates John Carlson (10th) and Kim-Marie Mullins (14th) and House candidates Representative Charles Ferrero (R-117) and candidate Aaron Haley (116th).
