Mexican consul-general visits
Mayor Nancy R. Rossi presents Diego Gomez Pickering, consul-general of Mexico to New York City, with a framed collage of pencil drawings of West Haven’s most recognizable icons and landmarks Friday afternoon at City Hall as Police Chief John Karajanis, Jr. looks on. Gomez Pickering in turn presented Rossi with a copy of the book “A New Compact History of Mexico.” Gomez Pickering, who was appointed consul general by Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto in June 2016, met with Rossi and Karajanis to discuss Mexican nationals living in West Haven and forging a partnership with the city on behalf of the Mexican Consulate in New York.

Grand opening
USAlliance Financial celebrated the grand opening of its new location at 1 Atwood Plaza on Saturday. The credit union moved from its Main Street location to the city’s newest site in Allingtown. Morning run
Life starts early on the city’s beach boardwalk. Each day at sunrise, you can find many people trying to get a morning walk or workout completed before going to the office or doing the day’s chores. Voice historian Dan Shine is one of those many early risers, and many times he brings his camera. He caught city resident Jamie Santamauro taking her morning jog.

Getting some encouragement
Hitting a round ball with a round bat squarely is a skill that must be learned and can be very frustrating for youngsters just beginning their careers. In a recent trip to the West Haven Little League complex, photog Russ McCreven saw this future All-Star getting a few words of encouragement from his coach.
