WHPDCity officers salute during the Police Department’s annual awards ceremony March 10 in the West Haven High School auditorium. Chief Joseph S. Perno and Mayor Dorinda Borer, not pictured, recognized several members of the department at the ceremony, which highlighted “the dedication, professionalism, and commitment our officers demonstrate every day while serving our community.” Perno and Borer delivered remarks and awarded certificates of commendation and unit citations to officers “who have gone above and beyond in the performance of their duties.” They also awarded such special commendations as the Lifesaving Award, the Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart. -

Hot off the press!The students of St. Lawrence are excited to announce the launch of their new student-written newspaper, The Chargers Voice. The paper was inspired from career day at the school after the kids met with Editor William Riccio, of the West Haven Voice about publishing a newspaper. They were so inspired , that they started their own. The first edition has just been published. Written by the students, the newspaper features stories and events about the people and activities who make the school special along with articles that reflect the school’s Catholic faith and religious life. -
