Pamela Bellmore Gardner, the beloved principal at West Haven High School, passed away Thursday morning at the age of 49. She had been battling a rare form of cancer.
'Sunday, Funday'
DJ Bill Murray and Cowboy Ron Moon help the “Sunday, Funday” group each week from 4-8 p.m. The group follows a long tradition of dancing at the Capt. Tony Walk and the dance floor at Old Grove Park. Murray provides the music, while Moon helps with the line dancing. Part of the huge following mugged it up for the camera on the last night of the year. The group also has other DJs. Wednesday is Steve Wallace DJ Marcus, Thursday is DJ Donny and Saturday is DJ Dan Chudoba. He is the Senior DJ at the beach, loggin in more than 20 years. He also does “Christmas in August” A Fundraiser all proceeds raised go to Children’s Hospital. Everything is strictly volunteer and has been a tradition during the warm-weather months.

Halloween on the Green
Contestants wait for the judges to make the final decision for best costume at the Halloween on the Green event sponsored by the City of West Haven and West Haven United. The Green was filled with kids of all ages and after Trick or Treating from various local vendors organized by WHU and the West Haven Chamber of Commerce, they were treated to the movie Hocus Pocus. The West Haven Voice was also a major sponsor of the event.
$25k for research

Sabo and Mayor Nancy R. Rossi on Oct. 24 at City Hall. The money was raised at the committee’s 18th annual Icy Plunge for the Cure in January.
Scholar-athletes
WHHS’s Julia Walker and Joseph Delgado were recently named Scholar-Athletes by the Southern Connecticut Conference. Walker is the captain of the soccer team and a member of the lacrosse team. She has a 4.4 GPA and is ranked 8th in the class. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Smith College Book Award recipient. Delgado is captain of the tennis team. He has a 4.3 GPA and is ranked 10th in the class is p resident of the National Honor Society and the Science Club Award winner. Both student athletes plan on attending the University of Connecticut.
