Club expands to Bailey
When Grace Kelly Nowak of West Haven High School and her other friends started the “FillA-Bag, Fuel-A-Mind” club, they hoped to make a positive impact in their school community. The group recently extended the club to the rest of the system, with the Bailey Middle School operation opening this week. Bailey Middle School will be working to receive donations and reach a broader student and family population. Each child will be required to fill out a social worker form and the family is required to contact the school’s social worker. This way, the family can communicate their interest and a designated time is given to fill a bag.
Mackrille book fair
Principal Judith Drenzek at Mackrille School adjusted her plans and made a Book Fair happen last month. With safety as the main priority, Mackrille School has been able to provide this enriching experience. The fair has also allowed students to purchase low priced books for those who may have limited funds. To ensure safety, only four students are allowed to browse at a time. Students were required to wear gloves with sanitizing procedures conducted in between. For distance learners at home, an online bookstore took place to offer them the same opportunity.
