Following a tradition that goes about almost 50 years, we celebrate our Thanksgiving Day edition by celebrating the hometown heroes of the gridiron. West Haven and Notre Dame play in the season finale for both teams.

Blast from the past
Thanksgiving and football have been traditional for West Haven. Yale Bowl was the venue for the annual Turkey Day battle between the Blue Devils and Academics of Hillhouse. The game in 1944 drew a record 43,000-plus to the Bowl, still an Eastern record. Shown is the 1939 game.
