Rossi announced a new package of funding for West Haven’s beaches in the recently approved America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018, including “$3 million to $7 million” in federal aid for the city’s coastline. Joining them is Rossi’s executive assistant, Lou Esposito.

Enjoying the warm temps
Students in the West Haven Community House Head Start Program enjoy the early fall warmer weather we had last week, taking timeout to climb the monkey bars. Reality set in over the weekend as more October-like temperatures came into the area. Leaves are beginning to fall, and coats and jackets are the order of the day.

“Crossing the West River” is a painting in the CampbellAvenue Post Office that was part of an NRA project during the Great Depression. It shows settlers moving from New Haven into “West Farms,” which would eventally become West Haven.

West Haven High School Nursing Assistant Students recently heard Matt Pilgrim) speak on muscle and bone health, osteoporosis, and nutrition for patients. Pilgrim, a dietetic intern from the University of New Haven, is currently at WHHS in the Dietary Department under the supervision of Meg Kingston. Besides guest speaking, he has been working on learning all aspects of the Food Service Department, including school nutrition, USDA guidelines, purchasing, food service management and teaching nutrition.

Seahawks’ Junior Peewee Quarterback Nick Conlan breaks past Stratford opponents for a big gainer last week. The ‘Hawks played host to the Redskins at Veterans Field, and came away with a hard-fought 7-0 victory and claim the top spot in the Southern Connecticut Pop Warner League. The season is winding down with the team now sporting a 5-1 record.
