City celebrates grand opening of the new Washington SchoolStudents, faculty, and staff of the newly minted Washington School take a commemorative group photo outside the building on the first day of school, Aug. 27. The official opening of the school was the week before with a gala celebration and tour, which included city, state, and school officials. The opening was hailed as being on time and under budget as well as offering amenities students will enjoy during the coming years. -

WHRTA LeadershipThe West Haven Retired Teachers Association (WHRTA) recently celebrated the retirements of President and Co-President Carolyn Gagliardi and Janice Frank at Stappa Winery, Orange. The ladies have given many years of dedicated service to WHRTA and to the West Haven school system. Taking their slots are Alicia Glagowski as President and Patti Fusco as Vice-President. WHRTA raises money for scholarships for deserving WHHS seniors who will enter the education field. -

Plaque Placed on 1851 HouseRecently the West Haven Historical Society and the West Haven Rotary Club placed a historic plaque on the historically significant residence at 2 Parkridge Road.
