    City celebrates grand opening of the new Washington School
    Students, faculty, and staff of the newly minted Washington School take a commemorative group photo outside the building on the first day of school, Aug. 27. The official opening of the school was the week before with a gala celebration and tour, which included city, state, and school officials. The opening was hailed as being on time and under budget as well as offering amenities students will enjoy during the coming years.

    The West Haven Retired Teachers Association (WHRTA) recently celebrated the retirements of President and Co-President Carolyn Gagliardi and Janice Frank at Stappa Winery, Orange. The ladies have given many years of dedicated service to WHRTA and to the West Haven school system. Taking their slots are Alicia Glagowski as President and Patti Fusco as Vice-President. WHRTA raises money for scholarships for deserving WHHS seniors who will enter the education field.

During a pit stop at West Haven’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Silver discussed the benefits and misconceptions of vaccinations, and Walsh stressed the importance of blood pressure screenings, diet and exercise.
