Troop 821, sponsored by the City of West Haven Fire Department – Allingtown, participated in a camping trip at the Webster Scout Reservation in Ashford. During the week-long outing, the all-Girls troop representing West Haven was awarded the Tantaquidgeon Cup named in honor of Chief Harold A. Tantaquidgeon of the Mohegan Tribe. The “T” – Cup as it is frequently referred to as is bestowed on the Troop that leads the camp in Scout Spirit and Enthusiasm and is considered as the troop that performed as “Best in Show.”
Troop 821 is brand new to the Webster Scout Reservation, and in fact are brand new to Scouting in America. The Award literature states; “This troop has only been in existence for about a year, and have taken to the program like “ducks to water”. They have enthusiastically jumped into every aspect of camp and are willing to give of themselves, like real team players”.
The T-Cup Trophy has been given to the department and will proudly be displayed in a prominent location at Fire Headquarters.
