VFW Post 9422 is sponsoring several scholarship programs for West Haven, Connecticut students in grades 6-12. Each of the scholarship programs incorporates a patriotic theme. Prizes are progressive and awarded at local, district, state and national levels.
West Haven Memorial Post 9422 will award $100 to the winner from each school that will then advance to the district level.
Patriot’s Pen – This scholarship program is a youth essay open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. The theme for this year’s essay is “My Voice in America’s Democracy?”
Entries may earn more than $5,000 to be used to further the student’s education.
The deadline for submission to the Post is October 31, 2024.
Voice of Democracy – This scholarship program is an oral essay open to 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. The theme for this year’s essay is “Is America Today Our Forefathers’ Vision?”
Entries may earn more than $35,000 to be used to further the student’s education.
The deadline for submission to the Post is October 31, 2024.
