The season has ended for the West Haven baseball team. Failing to put together enough wins at the end of the regular season, West Haven fell short in its bid to play in the postseason.
West Haven fell to 4-15 with a 14-2 home loss against East Lyme. Jose Padilla led the way with four hits and one run batted in, while Colin Murray had two hits and one run batted in, and Xavier Molina had two hits and scored once.
Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning, West Haven had a golden opportunity to get back in the game as Hudson Axelrod, Molina, and Padilla opened the games with singles to load the bases.
Murray followed with a sacrifice fly to score Axelrod, before Cam Lipford singled to right. Molina was thrown out at the plate on the play, before a fly out ended the threat.
East Lyme then scored three times in the second inning, three times in the fourth inning, and added a pair of runs in the fifth inning for a 10-1 lead.


After stranding a pair of runners in the third inning, West Haven scored its final run in the bottom of the fifth inning as Molina hit a one-out single and scored on a double to left by Padilla.
West Haven closed the season with a 13-3 victory over Platt Tech. With the victory, the Westies closed the season with a 5-15 record.
Padilla led the way with three hits, three runs batted in, and two run scored. Justin Wilson also had three hits, drove in two runs, and scored once. Axelrod, Molina, Murray, and Lipford all scored twice in the win.
Trailing 3-1 in the second inning, West Haven took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the second inning, five more in the fourth, and three more in the fifth inning.
In the second inning, Molina reached an error to score Ryan Wilson, before Padilla tripled to score Rob Jackson and Molina for a 4-3 lead.
Axelrod led off the fourth inning with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Padilla for a 5-3 advantage. Justin Wilson singled to score Murray and Molina, before Kevin Jason singled to score Justin Wilson and Lipford for a 9-3 lead.
The West Haven girls softball team concluded the season with a three-game losing streak. The streak prevented the Westies from qualifying for the state tournament as they ended the season with a 6-14 record.


In the season finale, West Haven was held to just one hit, dropping a 19-0 decision to Sheehan in a game ended after six innings due to the mercy rule. The Titans scored twice in each of the first two innings and seven runs in the third for an 11-0 lead.
Abby Wynus led off the fourth with a single to right, but she was left stranded after stealing second. The single by Wynus proved to be West Haven’s lone baserunner of the game.
The West Haven girls lacrosse team came up short in its bid to win its first game of the season. With an 18-8 loss in the regular season finale against Foran, the Westies concluded the season with an 0-16 record.



Kynadi Richardson scored four times in the loss. Madden Evangeliste scored twice, and Paige Kenny and Elena Curtis added one goal each for West Haven.
The West Haven boys tennis team concluded the regular season with a 4-2 home victory over Hamden. With the victory, the Westies improved to 6-12 on the year.
Due to inclement weather, the first singles match was stopped with West Haven’s Dhruva Garani playing. Hamden’s second seed of Kerim Hebert beat West Haven’s Adnan Dost 6-0, 6-0, while Hamden’s third seed Dylan Groff topped West Haven’s Mirwais Ibtikar 6-2, 6-4. West Haven’s fourth-seeded Adam Chouiki defeated David Charkow 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles play, West Haven’s top seed of Ben Proano and Daniel Davis beat Zhihan Liu and Marcus Ruggiero 6-2, 6-1, second-seeded Isaac Morales and Lucio Lara-Gaytan defeated Joe Baran and Kai Jenkins 6-1, 6-2, while third-seeded Brandon Hernandez and Eddie Fagnani topped Masus Fiones-Agmav and Kaede Kokubo 6-1, 6-3.
The West Haven girls tennis team concluded the regular season with a 5-2 victory at Career/Hillhouse. With the victory, the Westies improved to 6-12 on the year.
In singles action, top-seeded Lisa Hennessey defeated Jacqueline Reyes 6-0, 6-2, second-seeded Gabrielle Giles topped West Haven’s Isabella Arevalo, and third-seeded Andrea Perez defeated West Haven’s Angelina Torres 6-2, 6-0. West Haven’s Brooklyn Loehfelm won against Jazlyn Jaranilla, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0.
In doubles play, top-seeded Diana Morales and Hailey Dargon topped Jada Manueta and Alexandra Contreras 6-0, 6-2, second-seeded Martha Agustin and Mila Cruz won over Neiya Joseph and Gabriella Moscoso 6-4, 6-2, and third-seeded Karen Solano-Hincapie and Caitlin Pinedo defeated Akeillia Gooden and Carolina Bautista 6-0, 6-1.
